What is Alien Hand Syndrome?

Alien Hand Syndrome (AHS) often referred to as Dr. Strangelove syndrome is a neurological condition where a persons' limbs move by their own volition. The limb usually a hand moves without the person having any control over its actions. Strangely, the hand is not weakened and the movements are not spastic. The hand performs at normal and sometimes spectacular strength and the movements are coordinated and have a purpose. The hand can perform simple tasks like picking up objects and more difficult tasks such as undressing and dressing the person.
